was discovered in North America, is the family of Velociraptor and as small as a chicken. It weighs between 1.8 and 2.25 Kg not and presumably fed on insects, mammals, amphibians and even small dinosaur babies.
This dinosaur lived some 75 million years in southern Alberta, Canada, a very prone area where once lived in numerous discoveries of dinosaurs despecies.
"It was difficult to determine because it was still embedded in rock," said Nicholas Longrich, University of Calgary. "Just because you have studied Chinese dinosaurs I realized what it was." The creature has been named Hesperonychus elizabethae , in tribute to the late Canadian paleontologist Elizabeth "Betsy" Nicholls, who recovered the specimen. Hesperonychus means "Western claw", referring to the higher than presented in the second toe in a sickle.
