Well, the blog is going to hit a short break (1 or 2 weeks at most) because my computer has decided to stop working this week.

Although the entry for this week had already written, I have not posted because I did not put any image, and prefer to wait and publish it.

Anyway, I hope that the problem with my computer does not last longer than a week, and can finally get to Last II. Greetings

Problems with the computer of the Enchantress Ultima-IIRevenge History -



First, I feel the delay of this entry, but unfortunately these days I have had enough time to my blogs. As

Akalabeth and Ultima I were programmed in BASIC Applessoft , Ultima II was a turning point for Garriott in their learning as a programmer and designer and was created entirely in Assembler . Ultima II

was inspired (in part, plagiarized) in the movie Time Bandits of Terry Gilliam. In particular, the part of the Gates of Time the map to locate and Time Legends of was all out of that movie. While

California Pacific was the company that published the previous titles, the company ended up owing money to Richard Garriott, and just going broke. The remaining companies usually drew games photocopied covers bags, but Garriott wanted more professional output, and for their new game I wanted a box, with detailed documentation and a cloth map with each game. This was something very rare, and the only company that agreed to this was Sierra Online.

Thus Garriott I think his game to Sierra , and August 24, 1982 appeared on Apple II computers . The game included the manual, quick reference card for the controls, cloth map, the galactic map and a registration card.

Ultima II was officially the first Last who was taken on different computers. In 1983 versions were Atari 800, and IBM-PC . PC version is the poorest version as the graphics it contains are CGA (4 colors), while other versions have graphics EGA equivalent to (16 colors). Rights PC version made Richard and Sierra entered a dispute that ultimately Garriott decided to form his own company, but retain Sierra rights Ultima II.

Shortly after the release of IBM-PC , came the Commodore 64 version . This version had a more colorful graphics than the rest.

In 1985, Sierra redistributed game on different platforms that had already out previously, as well as new platforms such as Apple Macintosh , Atari ST. These two new versions have support for mouse, using menus of the operating system to access different parts of the game. The Atari ST version was higher than Macintosh since the latter had monochrome graphics.

Also in 1985 , Ultima II came to the 8-bit computers hand Japanese company Starcraft. Specifically, the computers that appeared were the FM-77 , and PC8801 .

After this, the company Garriott, Origin Systems , recovery rights Ultima II, thus enabling 1989 the distribution of the first compilation of games Last , Ultima Trilogy I, II, III . The interesting thing about this compilation is that the Apple II version contained a slight improvement to the graphics of Ultima II , while the other versions for PC and C64 contained the original versions of games.

In 1989 Ultima II reappeared in the Japanese computer, this time from the hand of Ponycanyon . The versions that appeared were for MSX-2 , PC8801, PC88VA and PC9801. These versions contain enhanced graphics and a soundtrack (no previous version available music).

Finally in 1990 , Fujitsu Ultima II public in compiling Ultima Trilogy I, II, III for FM-Towns . This version is the most advanced of all. The graphics are the best I have Ultima II, and features a new soundtrack (different from the version of Ponycanyon ).

The 1990 version was the latest release of the game, but not the last distribution. Ultima II reappeared in the compilation of Ultima I-VI and Ultima Series Collection , but unfortunately, these versions had a bug that prevented access to maps of the area as they had been overwritten by mistake.

As with Ultima I thought playing Ultima II version of FM-Towns, but in the end I decided to stay with the PC version wearing an eye patch to improve graphics. The reason is that the version of Ultima II of FM-Towns has occasional slight difference compared with the original versions. Even so, I will put both images and the Enter Final of FM-Towns, as the PC version not have them.

Ultima I: The First Age of Darkness "Conclusions -

Well, to end at last Ultima I, here are a few conclusions about the game itself.

Unlike the first game Richard Garriott, Ultima I was conceived from the outset as a commercial game. Perhaps most remarkable about the technological section of the game was the system of tiles he used, which has been constantly used in later games. The Apple II version is remarkable for including support for two floppy drives instead of one. This avoids changing the floppy disk to play (at that time the hard drives were not common and was played from floppy).

Unlike Akalabeth , I've played countless times, this version of Ultima I was a new experience for me. I played in their day to the PC version has many differences.

I decided to play the original version of Apple II for the simple reason that the dungeons in this game were more dangerous than in later versions. For some reason that escapes me, the traps were removed a character falling to a lower level, thus making the ropes and nails useless in versions based on the remake.

There are many differences. For example, fighting overseas in the remake are 1 to 1 and a style more like Ultima II , while the original version struggles against groups fighting a kind of shift where the use of a weapon long distance from a close range weapon at certain times is really important.

The game itself is much more difficult in its original version in the version remake (suffice it to say to prove this, that same day I get my fight against Mondain pass me both PC version as the version of FM-towns to compare end).

Even so, I missed certain aspects of the remake, especially the variety of cities.

During the game, my character remained a Guerrero as in my last game for Akalabeth . In Akalabeth Guerrero use a really complicated things, while I Last complicates not so exaggerated. You still have access to magic, if somewhat limited. The two spells most important of the game (do you level up and down) were within reach of Guerrero , so my game has not been affected in the slightest by this. Still, I have to say that I Last 've always played as a Thief , which made the game was extremely easy and you could steal in the first castle the best team and only had to worry about raising points of life as before.

This was my first game at Last I Apple II, and has also been my first game to Last I in a relaxed and unhurried, and frankly I loved the experience. The only part I liked is that both peoples are random dungeons and repetitive, which fortunately did not happen in my next game, Ultima II.

The final fight against Mondain has arrived. Without thinking twice I get into the Time Machine . It fits four holes where the 4 Gems that Sosaria Kings have been giving me. Displaying the Time Machine is closed and I can not leave, I can only press the button to start it.
Shortly after starting my journey through time, a powerful magic me out of the machine, and find myself face to face with the Mondain himself .
Approaching Mondain, explosions began to appear in random locations in the room. The fight against Mondain is harder than I expected and I removed 12000 life points before I get him to flee.

To escape me, Mondain turns into a bat, but it serves little as it still armed with my Blaster until it falls to the ground dead ... or at least so it seems.


Mondain
is immortal, and soon rise again, then I go to the Gem of Immortality and destroyed without hesitation, which I removed almost 3000 points, leaving me rather moribund life.
After that I go back to where this Mondain returns to be transformed into a bat and finally give the final blow and ended with the.
I have been victorious. Mondain was defeated Wicked Gem destroyed and my adventure has been completed.
